Purely Print
The Sanctuary Studio & Gallery, High Street, Newnham GL14 1BB
6th - 26th Sept 2025
Showcasing the depth of creativity possible in handmade print today
Please join us for the Private View
6-8pm, Friday 5th September
Many of history’s most famous artists have worked in print, from Albrecht Durer in the 15th century, to Henri Matisse and Pablo Picasso in the 20th century. Often dismissed as a secondary or preparatory technique, handmade print remains a much misunderstood area of fine art, and this exhibition seeks to highlight the many possibilities of 21st century print. It brings together eight contemporary artists working in handmade print today, using traditional techniques such as metal plate etching and lithography, and more contemporary printing methods such as monotype and silkscreen printing.
The collection includescopper plate engravings, aquatints and drypoints by Fiona McIntyre, intaglio etchings by Wendy Rhodes, relief printing by Beth Jenkins and Philippa C Thomas, linocuts and collagraphs byAnne Haworth, wood, lino and card printing by Tabitha Fedden, handprinted works by Jane Sasanow, and screenprints and monotypes by Andy Lovell.
See Purely Print from 6th to 26th September 2025 at The Sanctuary Studio & Gallery, High Street, Newnham-on-Severn, Gloucestershire, GL14 1BB.
